We are excited to share with you what we (the Workforce Team) have been up to these last few months!

Promotoras

We have concluded the third cohort of Promotora's, comprised of 15 strong women from eight different FHDC properties throughout Marion, Polk, and Linn Counties. Through a series of enriching workshops, these women have acquired essential soft skills that empower them in their homes, communities, and workplaces. Thanks to our training programs, they have earned certifications in First Aid and CPR, and learned how to create resumes, cover letters, and effective job interview techniques. Each step they take on this path to empowerment reflects the transformative impact that community support can provide.

Testimonies

With the end of 2024 on the horizon, the Evolve team is reconnecting with our participants. Through a recent survey, we have been able to gain firsthand insights into their experiences with our programs and discover the profound impact our initiatives have had on their professional, personal lives, and their families lives.

Evolve has worked diligently to remove barriers that hinder personal and educational growth. We offer free classes, financial assistance for childcare, and meals during their classes or training sessions, allowing our participants to focus on their learning without additional worries.

As a result of this supportive environment, several participants have found new jobs, experienced increases in their wages, and even decided to return to formal education. They have cultivated new friendships that facilitate access to better employment, and the certifications obtained through our programs have opened the doors to new job opportunities.

 Spotlight Testimony

We want to share the inspiring testimony from a working mother who, upon enrolling in the Pre-Apprenticeship course offered by Evolve in partnership with Chemeketa Community College, as well as in Evolve's Introduction to Property Management workshops, has transformed her life.

Facing a challenging transition, she discovered the necessary tools in Evolve to develop her skills in a supportive environment. Completing these programs allowed her to gain valuable knowledge and opened up new job opportunities.

The impact on her personal life and her family’s life has been significant. Thanks to her new job, she was able to move into a larger apartment, providing her family with a more comfortable and opportunity-filled space. The skills she acquired not only enhanced her technical abilities and income potential, but also boosted her personal confidence, allowing her to interact effortlessly with people from diverse backgrounds.

Today, as a carpentry apprentice, she has a bright future ahead. She aspires to specialize in sustainable design and participate in community projects that assist those in need.
